Mike Piontek

I am a graphic designer living in Northville, Michigan, providing design and web development services for clients all around the world. My sites are created using web standards, for compatibility with all web browsers—from Internet Explorer to Safari, even mobile phones and video game consoles. I also design software for the web and Mac OS X.

I have over 14 years of experience for clients including The Sylmark Group, Chesed Direct, American Greetings, Cyan Pictures, Stock Yard Films, Plymouth-Canton Community Schools, American Sunroof Corporation, and many others. Please browse the design section for a sampling of my work.

About this Web Site

This site was created with Tense Code, my own content management and web log system, written in PHP with MySQL. The HTML and CSS were hand coded in BBEdit. Most graphics were created in Photoshop, except for the logo and green pattern, which were created in FreeHand. Files were uploaded with Transmit. The site is hosted by DreamHost and served by Apache.

Everything here was created on Apple computers running Mac OS X. I use a 20" iMac Core Duo at home and a 13" MacBook on the road. I use Parallels Desktop running Windows XP for complete browser testing. My portable doesn’t go anywhere unless it’s in a Booq Vyper sleeve.

Personal Background

I was born in the Detroit area of Michigan, just after Star Wars was released in theatres. I’ve spent most of my life in Michigan aside from a few years outside Charlotte, North Carolina and a lot of vacations in Illinois.
